During an office tidy-up (August is always a slightly slow month in the wine trade) “Tatler’s thousand most socially significant people in 1992” came to light.
Nestling in the “Shopkeepers” section of this estimable edition was Johnny Goedhuis….
“Used to be in partnership with Mark Birley before setting up Goedhuis and Co. in Albert Bridge Road which supplies over 1,000 private customers with fine wine. Married to Laura Smith-Bingham. Goedhuis and Co. is the hippest wine merchant in London – employees include eligible bachelors Evelyn Faber and Tom Stopford-Sackville.”
