Goedhuis, December 2022
A 1.5 hectare monopole sitting within Aux Fournaux next to Lavières. This cuvée was absolutely singing when tasted from cask. Fresh cherries and strawberry, the sweetness of fruit is equalled out by the fresh mineral bite and tensile nature of the tannins. A linear Pinot style, with clarity and energy.

The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Champs Chevreys 1er Cru has a little more stuffing on the nose compared to the Les Lavières, with clean and pure red fruit. The palate is well-balanced with supple tannins. It's cohesive with a judicious touch of white pepper and is nicely poised towards the finish. Maybe just missing a little verve, but it should drink well for several years. Drink 2024-2032

Jasper Morris MW, December 2022, Score: 89-91
A notably more vibrant colour, fresh purple. This seems very youthful on the nose, not so much definition yet. The wood from this barrel is a bit more present with a dry François Frères type of toastiness. Will need a little time to settle down, but will definitely deliver. I have no qualms about giving the 2021 Champ Chevrey the benefit of the doubt. Drink from 2025-2028.

The wines of Tollot-Beaut are some of the best we taste every vintage. Uncomplicated, pure and fresh, they epitomize everything that we love about wines from the Côte de Beaune. In addition, their fleshiness and approachability makes them perfect for cynics who claim that Burgundy is not their cup of tea. The 22-hectare domaine has been family-owned for years. Today, the young, friendly and exceptionally bright Nathalie Tollot manages the domaine with her cousins. The wines are vinified fairly traditionally. About 40% of the crop is de-stemmed, though this varies depending on vintage. The wines are fermented in open-top wooden vats before being aged in oak barrels that are 10-50% new. Very lightly fined and filtered before bottling, the resulting wines are often opulent with noticeable density, always clean and superbly pure. Just wonderful Burgundy.Read less

Region
Savigny-lès-Beaune
The picturesque village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune, is a relatively prolific producer in Burgundian terms. Less serious than its neighbours, Pommard and Volnay, these are nonethless delicious wines - perfumed, delicate and elegant. A tiny amount of white is produced.
