The vineyards of Mazis Chambertin sit between Clos de Bèze Grand Cru and the village of Gevrey Chambertin and are respected for making deep and powerful wines. This wine from Chantal Tortochot is a real highlight of the vintage. Its attack is immediate. With hedgerow fruits, mocha and spice, it is full, rich and layered, totally coating the palate. The wonderful flamboyance is balanced by a fine linear tannic core. The fresh finish sits perfectly with the sweetness of fruit and is the lasting sensation in this high-class wine.

Previously Chantal Tortochot’s father Gabriel sold most of his fruit to the famous Beaune négociant, Joseph Drouhin. Since taking over in 2001 Chantal has been carefully and surely building the domaine’s name and reputation around the world. In 2008 she made the next step by beginning conversion of her 12 hectares to fully organic practices, which was certifed in 2013. Since 2016 Chantal has incorporated up to 25% whole bunch fermented fruit, allowing the mineral salts imparted by the stems to give a vibrant freshness to her wines.Read less

Mazis Chambertin
Mazis-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the north of the Grand Cru area of Gevrey-Chambertin. The vineyard lies on a limestone subsoil, topped with brown, chalky soil. It is sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Mazis-Chambertin is very aromatic, dark in colour and long lasting.
