Burghound, January 2023, Score: 87-90
A fresh, ripe and nicely layered mix is comprised by notes of red and dark pinot fruit along with subtle touches of spice and newly turned earth. There is again very good vibrancy to the more voluminous and concentrated flavors that exude evident minerality on the more austere finale. This will need a few years to unwind and more completely flesh out. Drink 2028+

Taking its name from founders Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot back in 1954, this domaine has grown from 7 to 22 hectares under the direction of their son Vincent Geantet and his children Fabien and Emilie. Having outgrown their historical cellars, they invested in a new winery, and their wines show all the advantages that this additional space provides. Traditionally, they de-stem 100% of their fruit and allow the must a few days of cool maceration prior to fermentation starting, which enhances the colour and aromatic content of their wines. Through a combination of old vines (plenty of centenaries in their vineyards), sumptuous fruit concentration and generous new oak they make a hedonistic style of Burgundy.Read less

Marsannay
The most northerly appellation of the Cote d'Or, Marsannay is also the only appellation authorised to produce red, white and rose wine. Only created in 1987, this is an interesting area where quality is improving. Top producers include Bruno Clair, Meo-Camuzet and Denis Mortet.
