    Les Serreuxdiéres within the commune of Chaintré benefits from an additional degree of clay within the limestone bedrock. This combination gives a Macon with depth and structure, a touch of exotic fruits broad and full, with an appealing hint of lemon zest at the end. Drink 2023-2029

    The 2021 Mâcon-Chaintré Les Serreuxdières comes from an east-facing vineyard planted over time by three generations of the Cornin family. This has a joyful bouquet with wild peach, orange blossom and pear scents, a little more vivacity than the Bourgogne Blanc/Mâcon-Chaintré. The palate is well-balanced, much more tensile and energetic. It shows impressive weight with a lightly spiced, pithy finish that lingers in the mouth. This is worth seeking out, and interestingly, Romain Cornin compared it to the wines made at the Domaine 10 to 15 years ago. Drink 2024 - 2030

At his side, I aspire to create a wine that reflects who I am and that I enjoy sharing.” They have been organic practitioners since 2000, something of a rarity in the Maconnais. Their ideology is to show to all the true expression of both the fruit and the soil. These wines are a joy, sourced from some of the oldest vineyards in the region. Region

Mâcon

Lying to the south of the Cote Chalonnaise and the north of Beaujolais, the town of Macon gives its name to wines produced from vineyards scattered among the surrounding villages. The climate is warmer than the Côte d'Or giving wines greater exposure to sun, less rain and reduced risk offrost. The vast majority are fresh, approachable whites made from Chardonnay. Reds and roses are also made principally from Gamay and a tiny amount of Pinot Noir.
