Goedhuis, December 2022
Domaine Faiveley have two different plots of almost equal size, one on the Morey side within Mazoyères and the other in the core of Charmes below Le Chambertin. A deep and rich wine, layers of dark Morello cherry, warm toffee and spice. It oozes with ostentatious appeal and charm. Irresistibly flamboyant and I suspect many will drink this in its very early youth, but don’t be deceived as this will certainly age for the long term. Lovely!

Region
Charmes Chambertin
Charmes-Chambertin is one of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. On gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north, gravelly soil forces the vines to work hard. Relatively large for a Grand Cru appellation, it is hard to generalise about the wines. Often intensely perfumed and seductive, Charmes-Chambertin can be approachable earlier than its Grand Crus neighbours.
