On the slopes heading towards Puligny Montrachet, this Clos is named after the oak trees that were once planted here. This shows a very attractive ripeness, with hints of lychees and summer flowers. It has a warm viscosity and an exciting finish of noisettes and clotted cream. Lovely.

Region

Saint Aubin

Due west of Puligny and Chassagne lies the little, picturesque village of St. Aubin. With the neighbouring village of Gamay, it produces 2/3 white wine and 1/3 red wine over 230 hectares of vines of which over 3/4 are premier cru. It was one of the last appellations created in only 1970 but has since created an excellent reputation for good value well made Burgundy that can replicatePuligny. Some of the most expressive vineyards are En Remilly and Les Murgers des Dents de Chien.
