Goedhuis, December 2021
A lower lying plot situated on predominantly clay soil. This bursts with small, wild, dark berry intensity. Highly concentrated, with sweet ripe fruits. A granular tannic core flows into a fresh finish showing off its Pernand origins.

Burghound, April 2022, Score: 90-93
An earthier and not quite as spicy array is comprised by notes of red and dark berries with a similar plethora of pretty floral nuances. The mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors is again super-sleek thanks to the moderately fine-grained tannins supporting the firm, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. At least some patience advised. Outstanding. Drink 2030+

Jasper Morris MW, Janaury 2022, Score: 90-92
Located at the junction of three villages, Claude ascribes the fruit to Savigny, some spice from Pernand, with the weight of Aloxe. Clear bright purple, racy and spicy for sure, a fine depth of fruit on the palate, a weight which covers up the stems, more liquorice in with the dark raspberry fruit, balanced with good acidity. Well done!
Producer
Domaine Chandon de Briailles
The sibling team at this stunning domaine (Francois and Claude de Nicolay) is most definitely a winning one. Their biggest influence has been to convert the estate firstly to organic and now to biodynamic methods of viticulture and vinification. The wines focus on sensual flavours and refinement, these are not powerful, but the aged vines allow for wines of extraordinary texture and complexity.
Region
Pernand Vergelesses
With its neighbours, Ladoix Serrigny and Aloxe-Corton, Pernand Vergelesses has its own village and premier cru appellations but shares the two grand crus: Corton, a red made from Pinot Noir, and Corton Charlemagne, a white made from Chardonnay. The limestone marl soil is well-suited to growing Chardonnay and the resulting white wines are crisp and mineral with a good capacity for ageing. Pinot Noir is planted in areas of redder iron-rich soil and the best vineyards produce charmingly soft red wines with classic notes of raspberries and violets.
