Goedhuis, December 2021
2020 marks a new era for Antoine’s village Meursault. He is no longer separating the lieu-dit En la Barre from his other 10 parcels in the village, but has blended all the terroirs together. In his view this will give a more complete and representative style of the commune and this will be his long term policy going forwward. A charismatic cuvée with scents of medlar and quince. This has great depth and breadth, with a coating of fresh cream and cashew nut, long and rich on the finish.

Neal Martin, December 2021, Score: 90-92
The 2020 Meursault Village was taken from various barrels to respect the final blend and comprises: En la Barre, Tillets, Meix Tavaux, Les Corbins, Sous La Velle, Les Chaumes and Le Pré de Manche. It has a very refined bouquet, beautifully delineated with a slight touch of oyster shell. The palate is very well balanced with fine acidity, a slight honeyed texture but there is sufficient tension to keep this fresh and vital. Touches of pear and stem ginger on the aftertaste. This is excellent - a blend that really works and a brave and wise decision by Jobard. Drink 2024 - 2036

Burghound, June 2022, Score: 89-92
A very Meursault nose features excellent freshness to the aromas of hazelnut, white peach, acacia blossom and subtle spice wisps. There is both fine volume and punch to the seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the solidly long finale. This too could use a bit better depth, but more should develop with a few years of bottle aging. Lovely and excellent quality. Outstanding. Drink: 2026+

Matthew Jukes, January 2022, Score: 17.5
Dense, rich and full with sour fruit and a powerful core, this is a classic Jobard wine and a vintage that has played into the sweet spot for this winery. Not my favourite style, but this is a wine that will soften and open up given time and overall, this is a cracking village wine with a huge volume of bitter, old-style fruit.

Jasper Morris MW, January 2022, Score: 91-94
Antoine has decided to blend together all his Meursault lieux dits in a change from previous practice. The 2020 comprises 40% En la Barre 20% Tillets and the result comes from his previous Meursault blend and the recently purchased Meix Tavaux. Clear pure lemon and lime, with a touch of reduction. Definite austerity here but with fruit volume behind. In fact, there is a wonderful concentration of pure lime infused fruit, with a steely backbone. Very fine long aftertaste. Love it! Very long indeed. 5 star wine

Meursault
Meursault is the first great white wine area that one stumbles upon on leaving Beaune. Unlike other white dominated appellations in Burgundy, Meursault has no grand cru vineyards. It nonetheless has significant flair and power which make up for this deficiency. Indeed, if tasted blind some of these wines could even surpass other Burgundian grand crus. They are no fainting daisies. This may partially be due to Meursault's lower water table which enables the roots to delve deep in the soil picking up many trace minerals and which further stresses the vines. In addition, the cellars are more profound and cooler, enabling long fermentations, which increase complexity and longevity. Some interesting red wines are also made.
