Goedhuis, December 2021
The Drouhin Laroze plot is one of the very best in the appellation, sitting just below Chambertin Clos de Bèze. This is a superb wine, a little fuller than some Chapelles, thanks to its position. Plenty of fruits of the forest, it has a noticeable generosity. Richly textured and a finish of nutmeg and thyme give sweetness and appeal.

Jasper Morris MW, December 2021, Score: 93-95
Half has been pulled out and replanted in 2021. Dense purple, quite ripe, plenty of energy though as well. A dark purple sort of fruit, 30% whole bunch vinification keeps the wine lively while the 80% new wood currently marks it a bit, but leaves no aggressive wood tannins.

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Chapelle Chambertin
One of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. Chapelle-Chambertin's vineyards are on gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north. The thin rocky soil forces the vines to work hard. The exceptional wines produced in Chapelle-Chambertin are complex, powerful and incredibly long-lasting.
