Goedhuis, December 2021
A very dense, dark wine, with a full array of Black Forest fruits, dark toffee and cocoa. Full and luscious, opening with almost ostentatious succulence, the tannic depth develops to give the wine weight and muscle. Great length and great class in equal measures.

Burghound, April 2022, Score: 90-93
An exuberantly floral nose is composed by notes of plum and black raspberry coulis along with an impressive array of spice wisps. Here too the mid-palate of the big-bodied flavors is almost soft while the supporting and burly tannins are both firm and prominent on the grippy and somewhat austere finale. This too is going to require extended patience though I doubt it will ever mature into a Clos de Bèze of elegance and refinement. Drink 2035+

Son of the family who used to own the illustrious Domaine de la Pousse d’Or, Nicolas Potel set up his négociant label Maison Roche de Bellene in 2008. A Bourguignon through and through, Nicolas’ unrivalled local network of thoroughly reliable grower-suppliers allows him to source fruit from the most sought-after parcels in the Côte. He also produces a selection of domaine wines (under Domaine de Bellene). The emphasis remains to this day on well-sited venerable vines and viticulture and the Maison Roche de Bellene label is the superlative source of attractive, well-priced Burgundy wines. Nicolas chose the name ‘Bellene' in honour of the ancient Roman name for Beaune.Read less

Chambertin Clos de Bèze
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
