Goedhuis, December 2020
Named after the small stream, La Petite Vouge, that runs through this vineyard located to the north of the Clos de Vougeot, wedged up towards Musigny. A striking wine with Vosne Romanée styled red fruit vibrance. Good intensity and a touch of Moroccan spice adds character at the end. As always, hugely appealing

Neal Martin, December 2020, Score: 91-93
The 2019 Vougeot Les Petits Vougeot 1er Cru has a ripe, generous bouquet of morello cherry, wild strawberry and hints of blueberry, all nicely focused with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, a satin-like texture and a sleek, seductive, energetic finish. This vineyard often excels in warm vintages, and this wine is no exception. Burghound, Janury 2021, Score: 90-93
There is a vaguely candied aspect to the pretty, elegant and pure red cherry scents that are laced with hints of anise, rose petal and lavender. The super-refined and almost delicate medium weight flavors possess a beguiling underlying tension on the mineral-infused, delicious and ever so mildly austere finale that is notably firmer than the succulent mid-palate would suggest. This age-worthy effort is pretty much textbook Petits Vougeots. Outstanding. Drink 2029+

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less

Vougeot
Unlike the other predominant Côte de Nuits appellations, Vougeot's main appellation is its onlygrand cru vineyard, Clos de Vougeot. It is by far the largest grand cru of the area totalling over 50 hectares with over 40 owners rumoured to own vines. As a result, its vineyards run from the flat, clay-dominated valley floor to the well-drained, venerated sloped hillsides suggesting that its quality ending on where it is grown. As a result, it is often the least valued of the grand crus and can offer excellent value, particularly in good vintages where ripeness has been attained.
