Goedhuis, December 2020
Les Talmettes lies just to the west of Aux Vergelesses and this slightly warmer south-facing location is sheltered from the north wind. Consequently, it is gentler in style than its neighbour.

Neal Martin, December 2020,
Score: 92-94The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Talmettes 1er Cru is perhaps the most tertiary of Bize’s cuvées, with the stem character most pronounced at the moment. The harmonious, medium-bodied palate features fine tannins and well-judged acidity. The whole bunch is certainly less tangible toward the finish, which is very smooth and persistent. You want to take another sip straight after – a good sign! Drink 2022 - 2040

Wine Advocate, Janaury 2021,
Score: 92-94The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Talmettes wafts from the glass with scents of rose petals, peonies, exotic spices and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's concentrated and gourmand, with a succulent core of fruit, ultra-refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish.

Jasper Morris MW, October 2020,
Score: 91-93A little paler in colour than Les Fourneaux , but on the other hand the bouquet is really elegant. This has clearly got the stuffing behind as well. Ethereal, yet still with its feet in the earth, well anchored. Great length. Is a four star rating ungenerous? 4 stars

Producer
Domaine Simon Bize et Fils

Domaine Simon Bize is a substantial estate by Burgundy standards, with 22 hectares mainly in the appellation of Savigny Lès Beaune and two fine grand cru parcels in Corton Charlemagne and Latricières Chambertin. It is now under the careful management of Chisa, the late Patrick Bize’s wife, and Marielle Grivot, Patrick’s sister. They like to continue his practice of whole bunch fermentation and gentle handling of the fruit during the vinification process. The result is always very stylish wines, which possess the sweetness of fruit and subtle core of tannins, which are such a character of the wines of Savigny.
Region
Savigny-lès-Beaune
The picturesque village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune, is a relatively prolific producer in Burgundian terms. Less serious than its neighbours, Pommard and Volnay, these are nonethless delicious wines - perfumed, delicate and elegant. A tiny amount of white is produced.
