Tasting Notes

Goedhuis, March 2020
The Reverdy family has a knack for producing delicious Sancerre, so much so that is has become a perennial Goedhuis favourite. The 2019 shows a gentle lime tinge in the glass and has attractive aromas of white peach with hints of lilac and fresh currants . On the palate it balances a subtle ripeness with appealing ripe fruits. A very clean, pure and scented wine with a gentle line of freshness that provides an uplifting and refreshing finish.
Producer
Domaine Bernard Reverdy

Located in the small village of Verdigny, the Reverdys have long been making excellent wine. Created by Bernard Reverdy decades ago, the domaine is currently owned and run by his enthusiastic and passionate son Noël and his wife Claudine. Though their 12 hectares were once majority Pinot Noir, following phylloxera Sauvignon Blanc took over making it the majority grape within their vineyards (80%). Besides producing racy Sancerre Blanc, their long expertise with Pinot has given them a well known reputation for making noteworthy rosé as well. Pressed directly from ripe yet crunchy berries, it is just what Sancerre rosé should be - light rose petal pink in colour with a zesty, fruity and fresh palate. A Goedhuis exclusive.
Region
Sancerre
The picturesque town of Sancerre perches atop a hill on the left bank of the Loire with vineyards planted on limestone and clay hillsides. A total of 14 villages and 3 hamlets have the rights to produce Sancerre, and, due to the increasing popularity of the wine, the area under vine trebled in the last quarter of the 20th century. Often considered the classic home of Sauvignon Blanc, good Sancerre is crisp, elegant and aromatic, and among the finest and most complex Sauvignons in the world. Delicate reds and roses are also made from Pinot Noir.
