Goedhuis, April 2022
The south-easterly exposure of the vineyards of Chaintré guarantees perfect ripeness for these Chardonnay grapes, beautifully highlighted in this singe vineyard plot of Serreuxdiéres. Attractive aromas of bright clementine and apricot balance a subtle richness of fruit with a lift of freshness and a long, creamy textured finish.

Neal Martin, June 2022, Score: 90
The 2020 Mâcon-Chaintré Les Serreuxdières, which comes from a vineyard close to the village of Chânes, on limestone soils. It has plenty of energy on the nose, quite tensile, just a very subtle petrolly scent lending complexity. The palate is well balanced with that menthol leitmotif that runs through many of the wines this vintage. It just needs a little more grip on the finish, but still promising. Drink 2023 - 2029

There is so much that makes Domaine Cornin, from the village of Chaintré in Macon, special. Father and son, Dominique and Romain, are men of the soil. Their attitude is summed up by Romain’s ambition for the estate, “accomplishing my dream to become a vigneron fills me with a sense of freedom: The freedom to spend my days, as I see fit, in the thick of my vines, true to my father’s work philosophy and his love of the soil. ...Read more

At his side, I aspire to create a wine that reflects who I am and that I enjoy sharing.” They have been organic practitioners since 2000, something of a rarity in the Maconnais. Their ideology is to show to all the true expression of both the fruit and the soil. These wines are a joy, sourced from some of the oldest vineyards in the region. There is complete respect to individual terroirs and they have an excitement to them, fresh and bright but also juicy and warming.Read less

Region
Mâcon
Lying to the south of the Cote Chalonnaise and the north of Beaujolais, the town of Macon gives its name to wines produced from vineyards scattered among the surrounding villages. The climate is warmer than the Côte d'Or giving wines greater exposure to sun, less rain and reduced risk offrost. The vast majority are fresh, approachable whites made from Chardonnay. Reds and roses are also made principally from Gamay and a tiny amount of Pinot Noir.
