Goedhuis, November 2020
A high quality lieu dit below Premier Cru Champeau, these vines are now 115 years old! This exceptional cuvée highlights the benefits of deep-rooted old vines in years of potential drought. Full of characterful bramble fruits, this has an extraordinary richness and volume. A good mix between charm and power with great length, this is so much more than a village cuvée.

Burghound, January 2021,
Score: 90-92Smoky and mildly toasty aromas are composed of markedly ripe yet attractively fresh cassis, black cherry and plenty of earth nuances. The supple, delicious and enveloping larger-scaled flavors possess excellent intensity and minerality before concluding in a firm, serious and impressively long and complex finale. As is usually the case, this offers very fine quality for its level and is recommended. Outstanding Top value. Drink: 2029+

Domaine Geantet-Pansiot

Created in 1955 by Edmond Geantet, this popular domaine has been run by his friendly and energetic son Vincent since 1989. Now joined by his son and daughter, Fabien and Emilie, the Geantets have built up this domaine into one of the most substantial estates in the Côte de Nuits, with 22 hectares of vines across Gevrey Chambertin and beyond. Their new winery at the edge of the village may not be one of the region’s architectural high points, but it has given them the vital space to vinify at ease. Through a combination of old vines (plenty of centenaries in their vineyards), sumptuous fruit concentration and generous new oak they make a hedonistic style of Burgundy. With a generous 10 day cold maceration, the colours are deep and the fruit aromas dark and ripe.
Region
Gevrey-Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
