Tasting Notes
-
Goedhuis, July 2020
Clos de la Roilette is a leading estate in Beaujolais and we love their precise, classical Fleurie, grown on granite soils. Gamay’s pure kirsch cherries and violet notes combine with mineral freshness. The 2019 has an exotic nose of juicy ripe damsons and tayberry. In the palate the succulent red fruit flavours are matched by pleasing depth and a line of acidity. Very pretty and perfumed.

Clos de la Roilette

Alain Coudert is one of the finest producers in the Beaujolais region. His domaine is located in Fleurie near the border with Moulin-à-Vent. He produces a sustainable and low intervention gamay.
Region
Fleurie
At the very southern tip of Burgundy, to the west of Villefranche-sur-Saone, lie the vineyards of Beaujolais. Light years from the illustrious slopes of the Cote d'Or, this is the home of the Gamay grape which thrives on granite soils. The grapes are vinified whole which results in lovely, fresh fruity red wines for early drinking. Fleurie is one of ten crus in the area producing a higher quality of wine than straightforward Beaujolais or Beaujolais villages. The wines are very appealing, full of perfumed fruit with a fresh, crunchy texture.
