Tasting Notes
-
Goedhuis, March 2021
Bright garnet colour. This is a very giving style full of vibrant red cherry fruits with a touch of tayberry, cranberry and fresh spice. Appealing rounded personality, this is a wine showing youthful approachability. The tannins are soft, the acidity is in keeping with the fruit and the lasting sensation is of bright red summer fruits.
Producer
Riecine

Though Riecine's vineyard area dates from the 12th century when it was owned and managed by amonastery, the estate was not actually founded until 1971 by John Dunkley. Today, the domaine isowned by Gary Baumann and run by Sean O'Callaghan and his best friend, Zolfo, a golden retrieverwith a penchant for Sangiovese.Classically styled yet produced using modern techniques, Riecine wines are refined and superbly balanced - some of the best examples that we have tasted from the region.
Region
Chianti Classico
There are seven zones within the Chianti appellation, though its centre, Chianti Classico is themost famous. The appellation regulations require that Sangiovese must make up at least 75% of theblend (many wines are 100%); however smaller percentages of native and non-native varieties, suchas Canaiolo, Colorino and Cabernet Sauvignon, are also permitted. The denomination of Riservaindicates a wine usually produced with more concentrated grapes than the traditional cuvée andrequires a minimum of one additional year of ageing.
