Neal Martin, December 2020, Score: 96-98
The 2019 Chambertin Grand Cru comprises three barrels. It has a glorious, beautifully defined bouquet displaying very fine precision and gorgeous mineral tones. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, perfectly judged acidity and beautifully integrated oak. Just a little lactic on the finish at the moment, but that will disappear with time. Superb. 2023-2045

Burghound, April 2021, Score: 92-95
A cooler and more restrained nose features notes of various dark berries, tea, forest floor and a very pretty array of floral elements. The sleek, markedly intense and beautifully delineated imposingly scaled flavors brim with both minerality and a refreshing salinity that builds on the overtly austere, compact and very serious finale. Once again, more depth is needed but here too better complexity will almost surely develop. Note that my suggested initial drinking window also reflects the large format bottling. Drink 2046+

Decanter, October 2020, Score: 97
Fruit purchased from an old vine plot; nearly 80% of which was fermented as whole clusters using native yeasts. The maturation will continue for 18 months in cask. There are two barrels that are just beginning to reveal their depth and complexity – initially somewhat closed, they open up on the palate to reveal great wellsprings of ripe black cherry fruit and concentration. The tannins are firm, even a bit strict, but there is enough density and extract to carry the phenolic charge. Drink 2024 - 2039 Charles Curtis MW

Region
Chambertin
Gevrey Chambertin lies well to the north of the Cote de Nuits. It has no less than 9 grand cru vineyards and the most famous of these is Chambertin. Often considered the greatest of all red Burgundies for its complexity, power and intensity, Chambertin's fine wines are unsurprisingly rare and are priced accordingly. They also need years to develop to their full potential, but are undoubtedly worth the wait.
