Huon Hooke, May 2020,
Medium to deep red colour with a good purple tint. The bouquet is black-fruited and earthy, spicy and oak-tinged, a little dry-red-ish perhaps and this translates through to a fuller-bodied palate with excellent tannin backbone. The oak is evident throughout and lends the wine extra spine and gravitas. There are graphite, mineral and sooty notes. The firm grip matches the concentration of flavour. Black cherry notes are also readily apparent. An impressively powerful, structured pinot with great cellaring potential. 2020-2038
Giaconda is a shining star in the firmament of Australian wine alongside Leeuwin Estate and Penfolds Grange, it’s just its rarity that makes it less well known amongst ardent collectors. Demand regularly outstrips supply making both the Giaconda’s Shiraz and Chardonnay scarce in the UK market. The estate in Beechwood, Victoria, is lauded by critics worldwide, and winemaker Rick Kinzbrunner is considered a Chardonnay master. Indeed, in March 2015 Decanter Magazine picked Giaconda as one of the world’s greatest Chardonnay producers. The estate’s 400m elevation ensures the wines are vibrant and fresh, and the gentle winemaking produces outstandingly terroir-driven wines.

It's home to someof thge worl's most prestigious wines and produces a rich and diverse range of wine styles, from stately and expressive Cabernet Sauvignons to juicy and elegant Pinot Noirs. Notable wine regions include Napa Valley and Sonoma County.
