Tasting Notes
-
Goedhuis, December 2019
Very delicate lime colour, with gentle lemon sherbet flavours. This is a charming and floral white wine, light in touch and very pleasurable.

Neal Martin, January 2020,
Score: 87The 2018 Côtes de Nuits Village Au Laurey Blanc was bottled just before the harvest. It has more vigor than the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, offering attractive green apple and faint gravelly aromas. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry, and clearly endowed with more fruit concentration than the aforementioned cru, leading to a tangy, marmalade-tinged finish. This is worth checking out. 2020 - 2028

Jasper Morris MW, January 2020,
Score: 87Bottled just before the harvest. Note that this wine declined to undergo malolactic but Geraldine Godot has made sure of its stability before bottling. A slightly deeper colour with attractive aromatics, quite floral. 15% new wood integrates nicely, supports the wine through the middle before the lean appley finish.

Producer
Domaine de l'Arlot

Domaine de l'Arlot was created in 1987 when AXA Millésimes purchased the property in Prémeaux, just south of Nuits St Georges. Its history as a domaine, however, stretches back far into the Burgundian annals passing through the Vienot and Belin dynasties before AXA’s acquisition. The domaine’s recent history has been shaped by the influence of Jean-Pierre de Smet who ran the domaine for almost two decades before Christian Seely took over direction. In 2014 Christian installed Géraldine Godot as technical manager and winemaker. A native Burgundian, she is a qualified microbiologist and oenologist, and looks set for a bright future at this Côte de Nuits estate. The domaine favours whole bunch fermentation, seeking to produce wines with refinement and finesse. (Not to be confused with Domaine Arlaud in Morey St Denis.)
Region
Côte de Nuits-Villages
This communal appellation covers the vineyards of Fixin, Brochon, Premeaux, Comblanchien, and Corgoloin. Spread along the length of the Cotes de Nuits the wines of the different communes are, unsurprisingly, varied, reflecting a range of different exposures and nuances of soild type. The vast majority of production is red, with just a smattering of Chardonnay grown. The reds can offer very good value from the better producers.
