Goedhuis, December 2019
Another superbly located parcel at the top of the Clos, next door to the Château with a surface area of one hectare. A rich and full wine, with flavours of Black Forest fruits. There are notes of oak and vanilla pod, deep dark flavours. With masses of volume, this is layered and persistent on the finish.

Neal Martin, January 2020,
Score: 93-95The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, which was completely de-stemmed, has a very expressive nose on which wild mint and fennel join exuberant red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and mainly black fruit, laced with white pepper, sage and bay leaf. Well structured on the finish, with impressive salinity on the aftertaste. This is a very fine Clos Vougeot with long-term potential. 2023 - 2048

Burghound, January 2020,
Score: 89-92Like the Bonnes Mares the wood treatment, and especially the menthol element, completely dominates the underlying fruit plus there is an odd note of tar. More interesting are the sleek and intense middle weight plus flavors that possess evident muscle and power on the grippy, raspy and youthfully austere finale. This may come together but I doubt that it will ever be especially refined. Drink 2033+

Domaine Drouhin Laroze

This substantial Gevrey Chambertin domaine is under the guardianship of a collaborative family team: parents Christine and Philippe, and children Caroline and Nicolas. They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.
