Neal Martin, January 2019,
The 2017 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru comes courtesy of 2.02ha of vine planted in 1989. There is a sense of completeness on the nose here: wonderful wet limestone and oyster shell notes, plenty of fruit and concentration. The palate is well balanced with a fresh opening, very saline in the mouth with a vibrant and sustained finish. This is a "killer" En Remilly. 2021 - 2035
Domaine Hubert Lamy
The Lamy family has worked the vines in St.Aubin since 1640. Today the domaine is run by Olivier Lamy who recently took over from his father. The domaine produces around 8,500 cases of red and white wine from their 16.5 hectares; the vines are spread around the Côte de Beaune villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay. Since 1997 all production has been domaine-bottled; the output is high quality - their Saint-Aubins in particular are often superior to wines from more fashionable villages.
Due west of Puligny and Chassagne lies the little, picturesque village of St. Aubin. With the neighbouring village of Gamay, it produces 2/3 white wine and 1/3 red wine over 230 hectares of vines of which over 3/4 are premier cru. It was one of the last appellations created in only 1970 but has since created an excellent reputation for good value well made Burgundy that can replicatePuligny. Some of the most expressive vineyards are En Remilly and Les Murgers des Dents de Chien.
