Tasting Notes

Antonio Galloni, October 2019,
Score: 94Ridge's 2017 Lytton Springs opens up beautifully, with bright acids that drive a whole range of red/purplish fruit intermingled with floral notes. Creamy and ample in feel, the 2017 boasts superb balance and pedigree. Readers lucky enough to own it should plan on cellaring it for at least a few years. 2025 - 2042

James Suckling, September 2019,
Score: 94This blend of 74% zinfandel, 15% petite sirah, 9% carignane and 2% mataro has that signature Ridge freshness and definition with such reliable focus on fruit. Aromas of dried plums, dry roasted spices, red flowers and leaves lead to a palate that has such succulent, rich red berries and plums. So lively and attractive. Drink or hold.

Region
Sonoma
Sonoma Valley AVA is an appellation in California, USA. It is the oldest wine region north of San Francisco and is located on the western side of the Mayacamas Mountains, which separate it from the Napa Valley. The valley nearly touches the Russian river valley to the north-west and reaches the Sonoma portion of Carneros in the south. With steep mountains on either side there are great variations in climate and geology, which gives way to many different grape varieties and styles. The most notable varieties are Chardonnay and Zinfandel but also Cabernet and Merlot from hillside sites.
