Goedhuis, November 2018
This is a highlight of the Roche de Bellene offering in 2017. Decadent new oak wraps around succulent hedgerow fruit. Its tannin structure is fantastic, with silkiness and power.

Burghound, April 2019, Score: 89-91
This is presently much like the Charmes in the sense that the oak treatment is discreet and there is good freshness to the pretty and spicy red currant and plum scents. There is once again good energy and nicely textured medium-bodied flavors that possess a velvety mid-palate that contrasts with the complex if mildly edgy finish. Drink 2027+

Son of the family who used to own the illustrious Domaine de la Pousse d’Or, Nicolas Potel set up his négociant label Maison Roche de Bellene in 2008. A Bourguignon through and through, Nicolas’ unrivalled local network of thoroughly reliable grower-suppliers allows him to source fruit from the most sought-after parcels in the Côte. He also produces a selection of domaine wines (under Domaine de Bellene). The emphasis remains to this day on well-sited venerable vines and viticulture and the Maison Roche de Bellene label is the superlative source of attractive, well-priced Burgundy wines. Nicolas chose the name ‘Bellene' in honour of the ancient Roman name for Beaune.Read less

Region
Clos Saint-Denis
Tucked between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, and sharing the same stratum of limestone, Morey-St-Denis is unfairly less celebrated than its better known neighbours. It boasts five Grand Crus, including Clos-St-Denis. Slightly lighter than Clos-de-la-Roche, Clos Saint-Denis' wines balance delicacy, finesse and wonderful Pinot fruit - the quintessential Grand Cru of Morey-St-Denis.
