Goedhuis, November 2018
This has the style and swagger of terrific Chablis grand cru. It is perfectly weighted, with rich, complex flavours of fresh and tinned stone fruits, and a distinctly peachy freshness on the length. Charming from the off, this should evolve with grace, and remain generous but poised as it ages.

Antonio Galloni, January 2020, Score: 95
The 2017 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru is a very beautiful wine. Vaudésir can be a bit rustic and hard, but the 2017 is wonderfully nuanced. Bright floral notes, green pear, lemon peel, mint and white pepper confer energy and tension to this bright wine. This steely, nervous Chablis is endowed with superb personality and tons of character, but its real potential won't be realized without at least a number of years in bottle. Time in the glass brings out the wine's texture and volume. The Vaudésir is not an obvious wine, but it has so much to say to those who can be patient. Drink 2027-2037

Burghound, October 2018, Score: 90-93
Moderate wood does not really detract from the mildly exotic dried yellow fruit, mineral reduction and oyster shell aromas. The delicious, succulent and overtly powerful medium plus weight flavors possess ample amounts of dry extract on the sappy, stony and lingering finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This is perhaps a bit less refined than usual but is still quite lovely and should drink well young but age well too. Drink: 2023+

Wine Advocate, August 2018, Score: 92-94
The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir is promising, wafting from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, almond paste, lime zest and wet stones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, elegantly glossy and bright, with a tight-knit, stony core and tangy balancing acids.

The Billaud-Simon name is long-established in Chablis, dating back to 1815 when Charles-Louis-Noël Billaud purchased his first vineyards. The estate remained in family ownership for 200 years until Erwan Faiveley purchased Billaud-Simon for Joseph Faiveley in 2015. This represents a new era for the Faiveley family, one of the Côte d’Or’s most significant vineyard owners, now investing their expertise and commitment to producing great wines in the Yonne and Chablis with approximately 18 hectares of exceptional vineyard holdings including four premiers crus and four grands crus. Under the guidance of Wine Director Olivier Bailly, they remain respectful to the traditions of the estate and continue to sell the wines under the Billaud-Simon name. The style is graceful and pure. Olivier seeks to make wines with true appellational authenticity. Oak is kept to minimal levels, only used judiciously, allowing the natural fruit content to express itself to a maximum.Read less

Region
Chablis
Chablis is world famous for its fine white wines produced from the Chardonnay grape. The best vineyards are perched above the winding Serein river and are south or southwest facing ensuring better ripeness in this cooler climate. It has four appellation levels. Petit Chablis is the most modest and simple followed by Chablis, which is the largest and most prominent. Premier cru Chablis is the third largest appellation and encompasses almost 40 different climats or vineyards including the famed Montée de Tonnerre, Fourchaumes and Mont de Milieu. The most noble of all Chablis are the grand crus of which there are 7 climats in total Bougros, Les Preuses, Vaudésir, Grenouilles, Valmur, Les Clos and Blanchot. The wines of Chablis have remained some of the best value in the world, particularly their superb grand crus which can easily cost 50% less than its closest revered white grand cru neighbour, Corton Charlemagne.
