Tasting Notes

  • GDH

    Goedhuis, August 2018

A blend of Sauvignon Blanc with some Sémillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Gris, from the limestone and gravel soils of Bordeaux’s Entre-Deux-Mers. A short period of skin contact gives this wine texture and a waxy concentration, whilst the Sauvignon and Sémillon proffer their lemony, white peach scent. It has a quenching citrus-edged finish.

Producer

Château La Forêt

Located in Entre-Deux-Mers (one of the greatest value areas in all of France), Ch de Fontenille has had vines planted on its property since the 13th. In 1989, its 35 hectares were taken over by Stephane Defra, a passionate young winemaker who has worked tremendously hard in producing the best wine possible. We were very impressed to say the least and hope that this Château will become a more permanent fixture in the Goedhuis portfolio.

Region

Entre-Deux-Mers

Literally, between two seas, Entre-Deux-Mers lies between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. Characterised by its light red wines made Merlot and Cabernet and sold as Bordeaux AC. White wines are sold as Entre-Deux-Mers and can be very good indeed and are made mostly from Sauvignon with some Sémillon, Muscadelle and Ugni Blanc.
