Goedhuis, November 2017
100% destemmed fruit. Deeply coloured with a dense fruit cake nose. Difficult to assess in its youth, although the concentration and power persuade me there is excellent potential.
Burghound, January 2018,
A ripe and exuberantly spicy nose offers up notes plum and violet along with a hint of Asian-style tea. The rich and velvet-textured middle weight flavors possess solid mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a seductive and lingering finish. This should both drink well young but also reward short to mid-term cellaring. Drink: 2021+
Stephen Tanzer, January 2018,
Healthy bright red. Inviting floral lift to the aromas of raspberry and spicy oak. Juicy, fresh, nicely delineated flavors of raspberry, strawberry and spices. Finishes with sappy, fine-grained tannins and noteworthy length. This village wine boasts very good energy without any stem influence.
Domaine d'Eugénie was born following the acquisition of René Engel estate by François Pinault, alsoowner of Château Latour in Pauillac during the summer 2006. The estate is situated in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of La Côte de Nuits between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey Chambertin. This village is considered to be the treasure of big wines of Burgundy. The vineyard is about 6.5 hectares and extends onto the communes of Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot et Flagey-Echezeaux. The estate is managed by Frédéric Engerer who is the President at Château Latour in Pauillac.
The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
