Goedhuis, November 2017
Situated on the Meursault side of this village, the area spared by the worst of the April frost. There is more richness here than in the Champ Canet; a fullness to the fruit, which has tropical tones of lychees. The finish carries more volume, and punch.

Neal Martin, December 2017, Score: 89-91
The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Perriere has a similar bouquet to the Champ Canet, perhaps even more tightly wound and austere, with just faint hints of blackcurrant leaf emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with plenty of rondeur on the entry, although comparing them together, I discern a little more tension and energy conveyed by the Champ Canet at the moment. Burghound, Juen 2018, Score: 91-93
A moderate amount of sulfur largely masks the nose today but it seems ripe. Otherwise the finer if slightly less concentrated middle weight flavors possess notably more minerality while delivering first-rate depth and persistence on the saline-inflected and chiseled finale. This too is excellent. Sweet spot Outstanding. Drink: 2024+

Wine Advocate, January 2919, Score: 93
Jacques Carillon's 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is showing brilliantly from bottle, offering up a classic bouquet of crisp green apple, lemon oil and mandarin, complemented by some subtly exotic, musky top notes that lend this wine an old-fashioned feel and which weren't perceptible from barrel. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and intensely mineral, with more flesh on its bones than the Champ Canet but with a similarly incisive line of acidity, concluding with a long finish. I suspect this is likely to drink sooner than either the Champ Canet or the Referts this year. 2019-2033

Region
Puligny Montrachet
Puligny Montrachet is known as the most delicate of the white wine appellations south of Beaune. Its wines tend to be linear and mineral offering delicate floral and orchard fruit aromatics. Its village and premier cru vineyard area total slightly over 200 hectares but almost half of them are premier cru making them one of the highest proportions of quality vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Several grand cru vineyards are present, the most notable being Le Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachetwhich it shares with neighbouring Chassagne, but it does have the extraordinary Chevalier Montrachet and the tiny Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet all to itself. There are a handful of red wines grown, but they tend to be quite light and need to be drunk in their youth.
