Goedhuis, November 2017
A location with superb exposure which encourages the ripening of the fruit in this vineyard. The opening crescendo of Guernsey cream and warm brioche is balanced by a hidden drive of minerality and bright fresh acidity. The finish is long and powerful. Superb.

Neal Martin, December 2017, Score: 90-92
The 2016 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Folatieres has a slightly richer and more showy bouquet than Les Combettes, hints of dried honey, a touch of walnut oil, the warmth of the late summer conveyed here. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity that cuts through the honeyed fruit, the richness conspicuous on the very smooth, slightly viscous, almost toasty finish that is appealing. One to watch. Drink 2020-2035

Burghound, June 2018, Score: 91-94
A ripe yet cool and airy nose is comprised by notes of green apple, citrus zest, pear and once again, plenty of floral influence. The notably rich and generously proportioned flavors exude both minerality and salinity on the beautifully complex finale. Despite the richness the mid-palate mouth feel is actually based more on finesse and refinement than usual. Excellent. Outstanding. Drink: 2024+

Decanter, January 2018, Score: 91
This Combettes is lovely, with considerable amplitude and mid-palate weight. It opens in the glass with aromas of apple, pear, dried flowers and hazelnut. The wine is glossy and textural, with nice balance and a moderately long, flavourful finish. This is also quite precocious and should drink well after just a few years’ bottle age. Doamine Leflaive's vineyards in Puligny Montrachet are steeped in history and the current generation can look back to 1717 for the first Leflaive family occupation of the farm buildings that they use today. The domaine was founded by Joseph Leflaive, who came to Burgundy in 1905. Anne-Claude Leflaive, the granddaughter of Joseph was appointed to run the domaine in 1990. A fervent proponent of biodynamic viticulture, Anne-Claude converted the domaine to biodynamics. After her untimely death in 2015, Brice de La Morandiere's, Anne-Claude's nephew and great grand son of Joseph Leflaive took on the mantle. He upholds the terroir-orientated, sustainable winemaking philosophy of the family.Read less

Region
Puligny Montrachet
Puligny Montrachet is known as the most delicate of the white wine appellations south of Beaune. Its wines tend to be linear and mineral offering delicate floral and orchard fruit aromatics. Its village and premier cru vineyard area total slightly over 200 hectares but almost half of them are premier cru making them one of the highest proportions of quality vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Several grand cru vineyards are present, the most notable being Le Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachetwhich it shares with neighbouring Chassagne, but it does have the extraordinary Chevalier Montrachet and the tiny Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet all to itself. There are a handful of red wines grown, but they tend to be quite light and need to be drunk in their youth.
