Tasting Notes
-
Burghound, January 2019,
Score: 96A restrained and cool and yet perfumed and ultra-spicy array offers up aromas of dark cherry, raspberry and a wide range of floral elements. The concentrated, tautly muscular and tension-filled flavors possess excellent depth of material as well as an abundance of minerality while exhibiting superb persistence on the firm, dusty, youthfully austere and built-to-age finish where a hint of bitter cherry pit appears. This sleek and classy effort will need an extended stay in a cool cellar. In a word, brilliant. 2033+
Producer
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé

This domaine can trace its history back over 500 years. It has been in the hands of the same family which is now in its 20th generation.George's grand-daughters Clare de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette are the family members presently involved.Currently the wine is overseen by Francois Millet as winemaker and Eric Bourgogne as chef de vignes. The vineyards spread to 12.5 hectares. They, amazingly, adapt their techniques depending on the conditions of the particular vintage, and rather disparage those who have a single "best" technique every year. This, hopefully, allows a purer expression of the raw material and vintage.
Region
Le Musigny
Le Musigny is a red Grand Cru vineyard based in Burgundy’s Chambolle Musigny village in the Côte de Nuits. Le Musigny is situated between the scrubland at the top of the slope and the upper section of Clos de Vougeot on well-draining limestone soil. The wines of Le Musigny are some of the best in Burgundy on a par with those of Romanée Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.
