Goedhuis, December 2017
Not the Pièce de Chapitre cuvée this year. The Tollots decided, due to the very small crop, to blend their two parcels in the village of Chorey together to make one single cuvée. A very open red raspberry fruit style with hints of chocolate and spice. Deliciously forward and very appealing.

Neal Martin, December 2017, Score: 89-91
The 2016 Chorey-lès-Beaune Village is blended with the fruit from La Pièce du Chapitre this year due to a lack of quantity. It has a ravishing, forward and expressive bouquet with plenty of raspberry coulis and blueberry notes, very pure and nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. There is a fine bead of acidity, almost candied toward the finish with veins of orange zest and spice lingering in the mouth. This comes highly recommended. Drink 2020-2028

Decanter, January 2018, Score: 88
Aromas of wild berries are framed by smoky, toasty, spicy new oak, leading into a full-bodied, savoury and quite firm Chorey which will require some patience for its structural elements to integrate and soften in the cellar. Note that no Pièce de Chapître was produced this year. Drinking Window 2026 - 2045

Jancis Robinson, January 2018, Score: 16
Very slightly sweaty nose and then surprisingly sleek fruit for this appellation. Lots of focus and confidence. Firm tannins in the background. Drink 2020-2026

The wines of Tollot-Beaut are some of the best we taste every vintage. Uncomplicated, pure and fresh, they epitomize everything that we love about wines from the Côte de Beaune. In addition, their fleshiness and approachability makes them perfect for cynics who claim that Burgundy is not their cup of tea. The 22-hectare domaine has been family-owned for years. Today, the young, friendly and exceptionally bright Nathalie Tollot manages the domaine with her cousins. The wines are vinified fairly traditionally. About 40% of the crop is de-stemmed, though this varies depending on vintage. The wines are fermented in open-top wooden vats before being aged in oak barrels that are 10-50% new. Very lightly fined and filtered before bottling, the resulting wines are often opulent with noticeable density, always clean and superbly pure. Just wonderful Burgundy.Read less

Region
Chorey-lès-Beaune
Chorey-lès-Beaune, located on the plain just to the North of Beaune, produces wines that are fleshy, fruit rich and approachable. Red wines dominate, although a little white can be found. Like Ladoix Serrigny and Pernand Vergelesses, the reds can also be labelled as Côte de Beaune Villages, if a producer so chooses. Chorey has no premier or grand cru vineyards. The most famous producers are Tollot-Beaut and Château de Chorey.
