Tasting Notes

  • GDH

    Goedhuis, September 2017

Wonderful purity and intensity characterise this Bordeaux blend from Chile's Acongagua Valley. There are deep crimson folds of cassis fruit, red cherries and floral notes, intermingled with hints of tobacco leaf spice on the nose. It is intensely fresh and vibrant. The aromatic fruit on the palate has beautiful concentration; pure and fine. Sumptuous flavours coat your palate and last for minutess. This is an extremely elegant offering, with graceful balance, fine chalky ripe tannins and lifted acidity.

    Wine Advocate, September 2017,
    Score: 96

2015 might have been a slightly warmer year, but the resulting wine is lower in alcohol and higher in acidity, which provide for a more vibrant mouthfeel and a more focused expression of the character of the place... dry, nicely textured, and the replacement of the Merlot by Malbec seems to have also added to the refinement of the tannins that are super-elegant.

  • JS

    James Suckling, September 2017,
    Score: 100

Stunning aromas of black currant, stone, blueberry and licorice. Also iodine. Floral. Perfumed. Full body, fantastic density of fruit and ripe tannins. It goes on for minutes on the palate with such energy and focus. Touch of chewiness on the finish. A complex and complete wine that delivers a generosity with firmness.

Region

Aconcagua Valley

The Aconcagua Valley is one of the more northerly wine producing regions in Chile. Inland hot dry conditions and alluvial soils produce fine red wines. The more temperate climate towards the Pacific coast can result in high quality Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.
