Tasting Notes
-
Goedhuis, December 2016
This high quality premier cru is shaded from the early morning sun, but enjoys the full glory of the evening sun. As a result, the fine richness of subtle tropical fruits and almonds is balanced by an excellent freshness. Superb density with the flavours of rich Guernsey cream giving it huge appeal.

Neal Martin, December 2016,
Score: 90-92The 2015 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chatenière comes from vines on hard limestone and some parts suffered some hydric stress, according to Olivier Lamy. It has a rather austere bouquet at the moment with reluctant flint and smoky scents developing in the glass. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry with good acidity, linear and correct, again more austere than Olivier Lamy's other crus in 2015, with a saline finish. It has just been sulfured, so I expect it will develop more fruité by the time of bottling. Good potential here. Drink 2018 - 2028

Producer
Domaine Hubert Lamy

The Lamy family has worked the vines in St.Aubin since 1640. Today the domaine is run by Olivier Lamy who recently took over from his father. The domaine produces around 8,500 cases of red and white wine from their 16.5 hectares; the vines are spread around the Côte de Beaune villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay. Since 1997 all production has been domaine-bottled; the output is high quality - their Saint-Aubins in particular are often superior to wines from more fashionable villages.
Region
Saint Aubin
Due west of Puligny and Chassagne lies the little, picturesque village of St. Aubin. With the neighbouring village of Gamay, it produces 2/3 white wine and 1/3 red wine over 230 hectares of vines of which over 3/4 are premier cru. It was one of the last appellations created in only 1970 but has since created an excellent reputation for good value well made Burgundy that can replicatePuligny. Some of the most expressive vineyards are En Remilly and Les Murgers des Dents de Chien.
