Tasting Notes
-
Goedhuis, May 2018
Tasted blind, Burgfest May 2018: This had an open and inviting aroma of ripe melon combined with a tight, controlled reduction. The palate has filigree texture and nervous tension; extremely Puligny in character.

Neal Martin, December 2016,
Score: 90-92The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières has an attractive lemon curd-scented bouquet with fine delineation, touches of lime and chalk developing with time. The palate is crisp and fresh on the entry with touch of orange rind and spice, showing some depth and girth towards the finish (common in 2015), but maintaining freshness throughout. It will need a couple of years in bottle. It is a decent les Perrières but it didn't quite deliver the razor-sharp edginess or the mineral heart that I look for in the best wines from this vineyard. Producer
Domaine Jacques Carillon

The Carillon family have been making wines in Puligny Montrachet since the early 17th century and there is nothing complicated in their winemaking philosophy. Good vineyard management means high quality fruit and then subtle but careful handling will allow maximum expression of the individual terroirs. Jacques’s wines do not focus on power, they are all about purity and integrity and deliciously refined, honeyed fruit flavours.
Region
Puligny-Montrachet
Puligny Montrachet is known as the most delicate of the white wine appellations south of Beaune. Its wines tend to be linear and mineral offering delicate floral and orchard fruit aromatics. Its village and premier cru vineyard area total slightly over 200 hectares but almost half of them are premier cru making them one of the highest proportions of quality vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Several grand cru vineyards are present, the most notable being Le Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachetwhich it shares with neighbouring Chassagne, but it does have the extraordinary Chevalier Montrachet and the tiny Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet all to itself. There are a handful of red wines grown, but they tend to be quite light and need to be drunk in their youth.
