Wine Advocate, January 2018, Score: 88/100
Medium red. Pungent aromas of redcurrant, pomegranate, tobacco and brown spices. A wine with moderate weight and fleshiness; dusty, spicy flavors of redcurrant, iron, tobacco and earth convey the ripeness of the vintage. Shows good breadth but not yet especially filled in. Hints of leather and earth add complexity. This satisfying, soil-driven wine is already quite expressive, Finishes with dusty tannins and a very good saline persistence. 88/100.

Domaine François Faiveley
Region
Mercurey
Located in the heart of the Cote Chalonnaise, Mercurey has the largest area under vine and produces the most structured wines in the district. A little white is produced, but it is robust earthy reds from Pinot Noir grown on limestone and marl soil that are most interesting. In the 16th Century Henri IV's lover Gabrielle d'Estrees was a fan, although the King himself preferred neighbouring Givry.
