Goedhuis, December 2016
This is a star cuvée for Domaine Audoin in 2015. Full of delectably sweet dark bramble fruits, it has a mouth-coating richness and bright freshness. Great balance with a deliciously lively, ripe finish.
Burghound, January 2017,
A discreet application of wood serves as a relatively subtle backdrop for the fresh, cool and ripe aromas of both red and dark currant, earth and soft floral nuances. I like the sense of underlying tension and punch to the mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the saline-inflected, clean and focused finale. Outstanding. Drink 2022+
Domaine Charles Audoin
Charles’s son Cyril has for years been instrumental in raising the quality and the reputation of the Marsannay appellation. With his new cellar now fully operational, he can realise the full potential of his excellent fruit grown in this underrated appellation. This domaine offers terrific consistency and excellent value for money in the northern Côte de Nuits.
The most northerly appellation of the Cote d'Or, Marsannay is also the only appellation authorised to produce red, white and rose wine. Only created in 1987, this is an interesting area where quality is improving. Top producers include Bruno Clair, Meo-Camuzet and Denis Mortet.
