  • Burghound, January 2017, Score: 93-95

This is just as elegant and even more complex with a lovely range of spice elements that add interest to the softly earth-inflected aromas of red and dark cherry, rose petal and oak hints. The palate impression of the middle weight plus flavors is also succulent and seductive while delivering superb length on the firm but once again not austere finale. This too should be approachable after only 5 to 7 years yet the density and balance are so good that it should easily repay long-term cellaring. Don't miss! Drink 2032+

He had learned from the best, most notably the late Henri Jayer of Vosne Romanée and Domaine Drouhin in the Willamette Valley in Oregon with whom he did his formative training. He is a keen participant in the growing trend towards minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery. The domaine has a remarkable array of very old vines, many having been planted between the wars. The Fourrier wines are pure and balanced.Read less

Griotte-Chambertin

Although the name Griotte-Chambertin comes from a word for a grill-pan inspired by the shape of the vineyard, locals and critics alike agree that there is an unmistakeable scent of cherries in this delectable wine. One of the nine Grand Cru vineyards to be found within Gevrey Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertins are wines of great power, complexity and longevity.
