Goedhuis, December 2016
Dense purple colour, this has striking aromas of blackberries and dark summer fruits. They carry through into the palate, with hints of dark chocolate and tightly knit tannic depth. A full concentrated wine with very good length.

Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 88-90
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is a blend of seven parcels, although the En Champs broke ranks and is now being vinified separately from this vintage forward. It has a pure and generous bouquet, a mixture of blue and black fruit that suggests something more Fixin in style. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, nimble on its toes, tapering a little towards the finish but maintaining freshness throughout. This is a well-crafted village cru. Burghound, January 2017, Score: 89-91
Here too there isn’t much to describe beyond wood toast and reductive aromas. On the plus side there is excellent density and power to the intense and energetic medium-bodied flavors that exhibit a lovely minerality on the well-balanced and youthfully austere but not really rustic finale. Very good quality here. Outstanding. (89-91)/2022+

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Region
Gevrey Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
