Goedhuis, November 2015
Pronounced stone fruits, this has a natural plumpness and weight, whilst retaining the characteristic freshness of the vintage. A winning combination.

The 2014 Saint Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard has a lifted bouquet with plenty of nascent energy: citrus peel, Granny Smith apples, almond and grapefruit that is just beautifully defined. The palate is poised on the entry, with bitter lemon and lemongrass, demonstrating fine weight in the mouth and a long, quite piercing spicy finish that sports an Alsace-like persona (in a positive way). What an intriguing Saint Aubin! Drink 2017-2029

Burghound, June 2016, Score: 90-93
There is a hint of matchstick character that melds with the fresh citrus and white orchard fruit aromas. I very much like the underlying sense of tension to the almost painfully intense medium-bodied flavors that also possess a borderline aggressive salinity before culminating in a strikingly persistent and quite firmly structured finale. Note that at least some patience will be required for this to unwind as it’s presently very tightly wound. Drink 2022+

Smoky nose. Very juicy. Lots of excitement. Racy and fruity. Super appetising. Bravo! Very Good Value. Drink 2017-2022

Sarah Marsh, December 2015, Score: 16
This salty character is the white clay (marne) – just a track between this and the Clos de Meix, but the soil is different. There is the top redder soil and the white marn which is 40% calcareous and therefore very mineral and this year it is has a pure and citrusy palate; it is tight and energetic. It frizzles across the palate. A tightly defined and nervy palate. The finish has a savoury and salty mineralty. Drink from 2017

Saint Aubin
Due west of Puligny and Chassagne lies the little, picturesque village of St. Aubin. With the neighbouring village of Gamay, it produces 2/3 white wine and 1/3 red wine over 230 hectares of vines of which over 3/4 are premier cru. It was one of the last appellations created in only 1970 but has since created an excellent reputation for good value well made Burgundy that can replicatePuligny. Some of the most expressive vineyards are En Remilly and Les Murgers des Dents de Chien.
