Clos Rougeard

Region

Saumur Champigny

Saumur is tucked between Anjou to the west and Tours to the east. The tuffeau plateau around the village of Champigny is planted with red grapes, predominantly Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon. The red wines produced are generally light, fruity and early drinking and popular in Parisian bistros. However in the hands of the better producers (such as Hureau, Filliatreau and Roches Neuves) fine age-worthy red wines result.
