    Neal Martin, Aug 2013,
    Score: 94

The 2014 Pouilly-Fuisse Clos des Quarts is from the Chartre part of the vineyard immediately above Pouilly-Vinzelles populated by many vines planted way back in 1917. It reveals hints of white truffle and marzipan on the beautifully defined nose that blossoms with aeration. The palate is elegant and refined; not powerful but exuding finesse with hints of white peach and honeycomb on the long finish. Outstanding. Drink now-2023. 94/100

Region

Pouilly-Fuissé

At the southern tip of the Mâconnais lies Pouilly Fuisse - one of a group of five villages amid rolling limestone hills producing the most serious white wines in the area. At their best this is serious Chardonnay indeed, golden, rich and ripe. There is no hierarchy of wines in Pouilly Fuisse, but the appellation name may be followed by the name of a specific vineyard.
