    Full dark red. Strong smoky minerality on the nose, with raspberry and spice notes emerging with air; less subtle than the Charmes today but more satisfying and expressive. Plush, fat and sweet on the palate, with the dark raspberry, spice, licorice and black pepper flavors currently dominated by saline minerality. Seriously dense, rich wine with a rising, palate-staining finish that throws off notes of underbrush, tobacco, iron and spices. The noble tannins owe largely to the high percentage of millerandé berries. A superb showing for this wonderfully silky wine, which will probably be for drinking after the Charmes.

Domaine Perrot-Minot has 20 acres under vine. A family run domaine, established in 1963 and now run by Christophe Perrot-Minot, it prouduces 18 wines including nine Premier Cru and two Grand cru bottlings. Most of the vines are of a good age (13 of the 18 bottlings are 45+yrs old "Vieilles Vignes".) Each wine receives 30%-60% new oak (depending on its cru status), ages for 14-18 months and is bottled without fining or filtration.Read less

Region

Mazoyéres Chambertin

Mazoyères-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on gravelly soil of no more than 30 to 40 cm in depth over the bare rock below. It is sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Mazoyères-Chambertin is lighter and more rounded than other Grand Cru Gevreys. The appellations of Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin can be used interchangeably.
