Goedhuis, December 2015
Shining bright cherry red colour. With enticing aromas of raspberries, this is a soft easy style, showing a great definition of Pinot Noir fruit. The light tannic structure and subtle freshness make this a very open forward-drinking style.
Burghound, January 2016,
There is fine punch and mid-palate density on the sleek, delicious and relatively refined medium-bodied flavors that also exude a fine bead of minerality on the balanced and lingering finish that is ever-so-slightly more complex. Good stuff. Top value 89-92. Drinking 2022+
Domaine Charles Audoin
Charles’s son Cyril has for years been instrumental in raising the quality and the reputation of the Marsannay appellation. With his new cellar now fully operational, he can realise the full potential of his excellent fruit grown in this underrated appellation. This domaine offers terrific consistency and excellent value for money in the northern Côte de Nuits.
The most northerly appellation of the Cote d'Or, Marsannay is also the only appellation authorised to produce red, white and rose wine. Only created in 1987, this is an interesting area where quality is improving. Top producers include Bruno Clair, Meo-Camuzet and Denis Mortet.
