Neal Martin, December 2015,
Score: 90-92The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St Jacques has an elegant, mineral-driven and rather introspective bouquet that takes time to unfold from the glass. The palate is vibrant with lovely, pure blackberry and raspberry fruit, fine tension with impressive weight on the linear finish. This is a stylish Lavaux that should give 10-15 years of pleasure. Drink 2019-2031

Burghound, January 2017,
Score: 93The restrained, cool and fresh nose offers up reasonably ripe aromas of red cherry, plum, violet and forest floor. There is very fine richness to the delicious and impressively intense middle weight flavors that possess notably more minerality on the driving and moderately austere finale. This beauty is firm but not aggressively so and will need at least a decade to be approachable. Highly recommended. Drink 2025+

Stephen Tanzer, December 2016,
Score: 91+Bright red-ruby Vibrant scents and flavors of maraschino cherry, flowers and spices Densely packed, dry and serious, showing lovely integration of fruit and mineral elements Terrific energy here but this will need time to expand in bottle Still, this wine is balanced from the start. Drink 2024-2031

Gevrey-Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
