Goedhuis, March 2016
The 1.3ha parcel of 60 year old vines are situated next to the old château which is considered the finest of locations in this, the Cote de Nuits’ largest Grand Cru. Deep dense opaque colour, with opulent damson fruit aromas. In the mouth, this is a wine with great structure, supported by a lovely volume of rich dark fruit. A wine of real concentration, very layered and with a long lasting finish.
Neal Martin, December 2015,
The 2014 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru was showing just a touch of reduction on the nose like the Aux Brûlées. The palate is masculine, structured, almost austere, with chalky tannins. I hope it develops a little more flesh towards the finish to fill in the gaps between the framework. It does gain harmony in the glass so I will be intrigued to taste this in bottle. Drink 2018-2030
Burghound, January 2017,
This is also quite aromatically restrained with its compact and dense mélange of freshly turned earth, humus, spice and plum-scented nose. There is excellent ripeness displayed by the bold, concentrated and robust broad-shouldered flavors that really vibrate on the complex and equally long finish. I very much like the delivery as this is the epitome of power without weight but it's more refined than most examples of Clos de Vougeot though note well that refined does not mean less ageworthy as this too will need plenty of cellaring to arrive at its peak. The softly reduced nose appears to be ripe and that impression is enhanced by the ripeness displayed by the bold, concentrated and robust broad-shouldered flavors that really vibrate on the complex and hugely long finish. I very much like the delivery as this is the epitome of power without weight but it's more refined than most examples though refined does not mean ageworthy as this will need plenty of cellaring to arrive at its peak. Domaine d'Eugénie was born following the acquisition of René Engel estate by François Pinault, alsoowner of Château Latour in Pauillac during the summer 2006. The estate is situated in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of La Côte de Nuits between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey Chambertin. This village is considered to be the treasure of big wines of Burgundy. The vineyard is about 6.5 hectares and extends onto the communes of Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot et Flagey-Echezeaux. The estate is managed by Frédéric Engerer who is the President at Château Latour in Pauillac.
