Goedhuis, December 2018
This old vine Volnay is a flagship wine in the Roche de Bellène selection. Nicolas always takes huge pride in sourcing the very finest fruit from his home village’s appellation. With bright cherry and redcurrant aromas, the palate has good definition, an appealing volume, easy tannic structure and full finish.
Burghound, April 2015,
A light touch of reduction isn't enough to completely hide the slightly earthy aromas of red and dark currant. There is fine punch and a saline character to the delineated middle weight flavors that also possess a slightly drying finish that flirts with astringency. Drink: 2017+
Maison Roche de Bellene
Son of the family who used to own the illustrious Domaine de la Pousse d’Or, Nicolas Potel set up his négociant label Maison Roche de Bellene in 2008. A Bourguignon through and through, Nicolas’ unrivalled local network of thoroughly reliable grower-suppliers allows him to source fruit from the most sought-after parcels in the Côte. He also produces a selection of domaine wines (under Domaine de Bellene). The emphasis remains to this day on well-sited venerable vines and viticulture and the Maison Roche de Bellene label is the superlative source of attractive, well-priced Burgundy wines. Nicolas chose the name ‘Bellene' in honour of the ancient Roman name for Beaune.
