  • Burghound, January 2015, Score: 93-95

(from a very large 1.21 ha parcel). Here the reduction is sufficiently pronounced to flatten the fruit and render it hard to evaluate. There is superb intensity and minerality to the beautifully well-delineated middle weight flavors that also possess plenty of that lovely underlying tension on the balanced and impressively persistent finish. As the best example of Latricières always are this is a wonderful combination off finesse and focused power. Terrific. Drink 2028+

  • Sarah Marsh, Novmber 2014, Score: 18.85

Interestingly this smells much riper on the nose than the Clos de Vougeots. It is richer, but also more sappy and has grippy tannins, just about ripe. There is an edge of the cooler vintage in the tannin profile, but the fruit is sweet and the freshness is there. It is awkward and so needs quite a lot of time…give it until 2023 to resolve. It is a more austere wine. Stony soil. Score 18.85. From 2023

Region

Latricières Chambertin

Latricières-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on white oolite soils, sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Compared to other Grand Cru Gevrey, Latricières-Chambertin is not ultra-powerful and seems to exude a sublime lacy quality.
