Tasting Notes
-
Decanter, January 2018,
Score: 89A dense and rich example that seems quite extracted; full of prunes and super-ripe blackberries, submerged in a heavy casing of tannins. Drinking Window 2018 - 2022
Producer
Renzo Marinai

Tom Heidman spent two years travelling round Europe to find the perfect vineyard and found his dream location in this glorious corner of Tuscany. Renzo Marinai’s vines cover a mere 6 hectares of the estate so this is a tiny operation in comparison to other estates in the area. Located just outside of the town of Panzano, between Florence and Siena, at 400 metres above sea level, the altitude is relatively high in terms of Chianti Classico, and combined with the marl soil, the location is perfectly suited to the Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo grapes. The overall style of the wines produced at Renzo Marinai is one of substance and body with excellent concentration of ripe dark flavours, which typifies the Chiantis produced to the north of the region.
Region
Tuscany
Arguably the most celebrated of all Italian regions for its sun, delicious food and rich wines. Chianti lies at the heart of this centrally located, picturesque and expansive area. Tuscany is also home to Chianti's more powerful cousin, Brunello di Montalcino, illustrious Super Tuscanblends and spicy, exuberant whites.
