Tasting Notes

  • BURG

    Burghound, January 2014,
    Score: 90-93

There is plenty of reduction present but not so much so that glimpses of floral scents are not visible. There is excellent richness to the velvety and suave medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that coats the palate and buffers the firm even robust tannic spine on the strikingly long finish. This is a big Suchots and somewhat atypical in that it is very structured and will need plenty of cellar time. Drink 2026+

  • JR

    Jancis Robinson, April 2014,
    Score: 16.5

100% whole bunch. Notably dark crimson. Rich and quite oaky. Very firm and tough and ambitious – very different from others form the same stable. Farmed by an older couple who are always in the vineyard. Japanese precision. Very dry and chewy. Drink 2018-2028

Region

Vosne-Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
